Ford to Recall 1.3 Million Trucks for Issue That Could Cause Doors to Open While Driving

Ford issued the recall after it found that door latches on affected models could freeze or actuation cables could become bent, preventing the door from opening or closing, according to USA Today. Dealers are to install water shields and make repairs, if needed, for free.

The action involves about 1.1 million vehicles in the U.S., more than 222,000 trucks in Canada, and 21,000 trucks in Mexico.

Customers who purchased recalled trucks will be notified by letter beginning the week of Nov. 13.

Ford says it is not aware of any incidents or injuries associated with the recall, as of Thursday.

The company filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stating it would take a $267 million charge in fourth-quarter earnings in order to deal with the recall.
