Ground Turkey Recalled at Aldi, Publix, Weis Markets

Prestage Foods, Inc., of St. Pauls, North Carolina, has recalled approximately 38,475 pounds of ground turkey meat that may be contaminated with extraneous pieces of metal, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS).

No injuries were reported. The problem was discovered by a retailer who noticed pieces of metal shavings in a package of ground turkey from Prestage Foods. The FSIS was notified on September 27.

The fresh ground turkey was produced on September 25 and 26, 2017. It was sold at Aldi, Publix, Weis Markets, and other stores in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

Consumers can identify the recalled turkey with the following information on the label:

Consumers who bought the ground turkey should not eat it. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
