Hot Dog Recall for Metal Shards

Less than two months before the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating contest in Coney Island on the 4th of July, a massive nationwide recall has been issued by the manufacturer of Nathan’s and Curtis hot dogs.

John Morrell and Co., of Cincinnati, Ohio, received three complaints of “extraneous metal” in the beef hot dog packages and notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS).

There are no confirmed reports of any injuries associated with the recalled hot dogs.

The ready-to-eat beef franks were produced on January 26, 2017. The following products are subject to recall:

They are marked with “EST. 296” on the side of the package.

Consumers who bought these products should not to eat them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recall can call 1 (877) 933-4625.
