Santa Fe Importers, Inc. Recalls Salami Products Over Risk of Metal Contamination

Affected products were produced by Santa Fe Importers, Inc., and include:
3.5 to 4.0-lbs. random weight of plastic wrapped packages of “MARISA PREMIUM QUALITY GENOA SALAMI ITALIAN BRAND.”

The recalled salami was distributed to retail locations in California, and can be identified with the packaging date of Sept. 14, 2017, lot code of 257-100161 (upper right hand corner), and establishment number “EST. 4118” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered after Santa Fe Importers received a complaint from their retail customer and notified FSIS on Monday.

If you purchased any salami affected by this recall, you should discard it immediately or return it to the point of purchase for a recall.

To date, no illnesses or other incidents have been associated with the recall, FSIS said. Anyone concerned about a potential illness should contact their doctor immediately.
