This is the first specific brand named in the outbreak, which the U.S. Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) says is likely to affect multiple producers before all is said and done. It is unclear yet how big a part Jennie-O played in the outbreak, or how many other companies will get the short stick.

Of the 164 victims, about half required hospitalization to treat their symptoms, FSIS said.

Jennie-O products affected by the recall include 1-pound packages of raw, ground turkey that were distributed to retailers across the U.S.

If you purchased any Jennie-O turkey that is subject to this recall, you should not eat it, and either discard it immediately or return it to the point of purchase for a refund.
