Fiat Recalls 51,000 New Jeep Cherokees Over Fire Risk

2018 Jeep Cherokee

FCA said it is unaware of any accidents or injuries associated with the problem, which involves fuel-supply tubes that could leak and spark and engine fire.

The recall affects 2018 Jeep Cherokees with a 2.4-liter engine, and does not include the refreshed 2019 Cherokee, the manufacturer said.

“A company investigation discovered a batch of fuel-supply tubes may have connectors that were incorrectly fitted,” Fiat wrote in a statement. “If so, they may leak, creating a potential fire risk.”

FCA said it would inspect and replace the fuel-supply tubes, if necessary, free of charge.

“Affected customers will be advised next week to schedule appointments with their dealers,” the company said.
