Ford Recalls 1.4 Million Cars for Loose Steering Wheels

The recall involves 1.38 million of the 2014 through 2018 model-year Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans.

Ford announced the recall after discovering that the cars have “potentially loose steering wheel bolts that could result in a steering wheel detaching from the steering column,” according to a statement.

Ford said it knows of at least two accidents and one injury caused by the steering wheel detaching.

Ford dealerships will replace the bolts and with longer ones that have more aggressive threads. They will also attach a nylon patch to stop the bolts from coming loose.

The recall covers the following vehicles:

Customers will be notified when they can visit for repairs.

The recall affects about 1.3 million vehicles in the U.S., about 62,000 in Canada, and 14,000 in Mexico.
