Goodman Foods Recalls Ground Beef Over “Foreign Matter Contamination”

The beef was produced on August 2, 2017, purchased by USDA Foods for the National School Lunch Program (NLSP), and distributed to institutional locations in Maine and Connecticut.

Affected products feature the establishment number “EST. 5886A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Click on the link to view product labels.

The problem was discovered after a number of customers complained about hard, white plastic material found in the fully cooked ground beef products.

“There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products,” FSIS said in the recall notice. “Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.”
