Honda Recalling 100,000 Minivans Over Sliding Doors That Slide Open While Driving

The problem can occur when the van is being driven, which increases the risk of serious injury and even death to passengers; however, there have been no such adverse events associated with the problem, Honda said.

The Japanese automaker said that dealerships would fix the problem free of charge, but it currently only has a limited supply of parts on hand. The company said it hopes to get more in by next month.

If you own one of the affected Odyssey minivans and are concerned about malfunctioning sliding doors, dealerships can temporarily disable the sliding door mechanism until the parts are available.

Honda said it will begin contacting owners by snail mail next month. If you are concerned that your vehicle may be affected by the recall, click here and input your VIN number.
