K9 Natural Dog Food Recalled for Listeria Risk

K9 Natural Ltd. is recalling “K9 Natural Frozen Chicken Feast” because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

No pet or human illnesses have been reported.

The recall involves K9 Natural Frozen Chicken Feast in 2.2-lb bags, shipped to distributors in Washington, California, Texas, Colorado, and distributed to pet speciality retail stores.

The recall also involves K9 Natural Frozen Chicken Feast in 11-lb bags, shipped to distributors in Washington, California, Texas, Colorado, Pennsylvania and distributed to pet speciality retail stores.

Listeria is a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal food poisoning in humans and pets. The symptoms of infection may include nausea, vomiting, aches, fever, and diarrhea.

Animals that become ill with Listeria Monocytogenes could display symptoms similar to humans.

Listeria can infect pets eating the dog food. There is also a risk to humans from handling the products, especially if they do not thoroughly wash their hands after touching the food or prep surfaces.
