Ortho-Novum Pills Recalled for Wrong Instructions

Ortho-Novum

Products affected by the recall include:

These birth control pills were distributed at pharmacies, and include patient information with incorrect instructions for the Veridate dispenser which could cause women to take pills in the wrong order. Failure to take Ortho-Novum in the correct order could result in, you guessed it, becoming knocked up without anticipating or wanting the pregnancy.

A standard package of 28 pills include 21 “active” doses and 7 “reminder” placebos. Active pills have hormones and are peach-colored for Ortho-Novum 1/35 or white, light peach and peach for Ortho-Novum 7/7/7.

Women with the affected pill packs can get the correct instructions for the Veridate dispenser pack at https://www.janssen.com/us/our-products.

FDA warned women not to stop taking the pills. If they miss a dose, they should follow the instructions in the packet.
