Porsche to Recall 60,000 SUVs Over Emissions Cheat Software

“The manufacturer was instructed to remove the prohibited defeat devices from the vehicles concerned once the measures have been approved by KBA,” the regulator said.

Affected models include about 52,831 Porsche Macan 3.0-liter V6 and 6,755 Cayenne 4.2-liter V8 vehicles.

The recall marks the latest in a seemingly never-ending scandal involving VW’s emissions software, which has embattled the German automaker since September 2005. Last week, Porsche’s sister brand Audi suspended deliveries of the new A6 and A7 models after an internal review found abnormalities in the engine-management software.

Audi in March said it expected KBA to issue additional recalls in the coming weeks and months, as the regulator investigates a poll of vehicles sold in Europe. Audi started tests in July on some 850,000 cars.
