Texas Gas Pipeline Explosions Kill 1 Worker, Injure 4 Others

A series of explosions on the El Paso Natural Gas Pipeline (EPNG) on Wednesday, August 1, caused critical burn injuries to 5 people, including 2 firefighters who responded to the initial fire and explosion.

All of the victims were airlifted to Lubbock, Texas for treatment at the burn unit at University Medical Center. One worker succumbed to his injuries and died on August 3.

Officials have not released information about the names or ages of the victims.

The natural gas pipeline explosions occurred while workers for Kinder Morgan Inc. and Navitas Midstream Partners were investigating an underground gas leak.
