Wegmans Recalls Cauliflower Veggie Mixes Due to E. Coli Risk

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. announced a recall on December 18 for Cauliflower Rice, Veggie Cauliflower Rice Blend, and Stir-Fry Mix with Cauliflower, that was sold in the produce department between December 7 and December 18, 2018.

The recalled products (with use-by dates of 12/11/18 through 12/22/18) are as follows:

The recalled cauliflower products were distributed to 98 Wegmans grocery stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts. No illnesses have been reported.

The recall was initiated by Produce Packaging, Inc. based in Cleveland, Ohio, which supplies these products to Wegmans.

Infections with E. Coli O157:H7 can cause diarrhea with bloody stools, severe abdominal cramps, and fever. Most healthy adults recover within a week, but some people can develop a life-threatening form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS).
