Bags of Fresh Fruit Sold at ALDI Stores Recalled Over Listeria Concerns

Willimingon, CA.-based Jac Vandenberg Inc., the company that produced the fruit, recalled 1,727 cartons of fresh peaches, 1,207 cartons of fresh nectarines, and 365 cartons of fresh plums.

The recalled produce was distributed to ALDI stores in Mississippi and Tennessee, according to NBC10 Boston.

Listeria infection, or listeriosis, is a foodborne illness that most often occurs in children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with compromised immune systems. However, in rare cases, otherwise healthy adults can become infected as well. Signs and symptoms of listeriosis include:

• Fever
• Muscle aches
• Nausea
• Diarrhea

If you purchased any of the recalled fruit, you should not eat it, and either discard it immediately or return it to ALDI for a refund.

To date, no listeria infections or any other illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled items.
