The recall affects pint-sized containers of Ben & Jerry’s Coconut Seven Layer Bar bulk and Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration said in a recall notice issued on Tuesday.
The recalled Ben & Jerry’s Coconut Seven Layer Bar pints were sold in a 2.4-gallon tube and feature a UPC code of 076840104246, as well as a best by date code of SEP1520BJ4. The recalled Chunky Monkey was sold in a pint tub with a UPC of 076840100354 and best by date codes of AUG2820BH2, AUG2920BH2, or AUG3020BH2.
Because the recalled ice cream may contain almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts that aren’t declared on the product’s ingredient list or allergy information list, people with nut allergies may suffer life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the recalled ice cream, FDA said.
If you purchased any of the recalled Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, you should not eat it, and save the packaging to contact Unilever for more information.
To date, no allergic reactions or other adverse events have been associated with the recalled ice cream, FDA said.
