Hamburger and Hot Dog Buns Recalled for Plastic Contamination

Flowers Foods Inc. recalled hamburger buns, hot dog buns, and other bakery products because they may contain small pieces of hard plastic that could pose a choking hazard.

Flowers Foods determined that the pieces of hard plastic may have been introduced during the manufacturing process.

The recalled buns were distributed to retail customers under a variety of brand names, including:

• 7-Eleven
• Bravo
• CBC Nathans
• Clover Valley
• Family Style
• Flowers
• Food Depot
• Great Value
• Grissom’s Mill
• Hitchcock’s
• Home Pride
• Ideal
• IGA
• Ingles
• Laura Lynn
• L’Oven Fresh
• Market Pantry
• Members Mark
• Natural Grain
• Nature’s Own
• Oven Fresh
• Piggly Wiggly
• Publix
• SE Groers
• Sedano’s
• Sunbeam
• WM
• Wonder

All of the products have “Best-By” dates between July 17 and July 19, 2019, and Lot #180 or Lot #111.

They were distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Flowers Foods issued the recall after discovering small pieces of hard plastic in production equipment. No injuries or illnesses were reported.
