Lipari Foods has recalled a variety of chicken salad products that may be contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was issued in response to a recall by Tip Top Poultry for ready-to-eat chicken products.
Lipari Foods began shipping the recalled products on August 25, 2019. No illnesses have been reported, but Listeria infections can cause severe and sometimes fatal food poisoning.
Lipari Foods recalled the following chicken salad products:
- Lipari Old Tyme Bulk Chicken Salad
- Lipari Old Tyme Bulk Cranberry Almond Chicken Salad
- Premo Chicken Salad Wedge Sandwiches
- Fresh Grab Chicken Salad Wedge Sandwiches
- Premo Signature Cranberry Almond Chicken Salad on Croissant
The products were distributed exclusively by Lipari Foods in Michigan to food service and retail stores throughout Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Infections with Listeria may produce symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In pregnant women, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, or a serious illness in a newborn baby.
