NY Company Recalls Peaches Sold at Hannaford Supermarkets for Listeria Contamination

The action was part of a larger recall issued Thursday by Jac. Vandenberg Inc., of Yonkers, NY, which called back 1,727 cartons of peaches, 1,207 cartons of nectarines, and 365 cartons of plums over potential listeria contamination. Only the peaches were distributed to Hannaford Supermarkets in Maine, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Hannaford posted a notice about the peach recall on its website Friday, and stopped selling the produce on the same day.

To date, no listeria infections or other adverse events have been linked to the peaches, the company said.

Anyone who purchased peaches affected by the recall should discard them immediately and contact Hannaford for a refund.
