Oskri Organics Corp. Recalls All Nut Butters for Listeria Risk

The recalled Oskri nut butters include Almond, Cashew, Coconut, Peanut (all flavor varieties), Pumpkin, Sunflower, and Tahini.

There are no reported illnesses, but consuming food that is contaminated with Listeria bacteria can cause severe and sometimes fatal food poisoning.

Oskri recalled nut butters with “Best By” dates of June 2020 (6/20) and earlier.

The products were distributed in New York, Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Illinois, Florida, Massachusetts, Texas, Arizona, Indiana, Idaho, Oregon, South Carolina, and Rhode Island.

The recall involves the following nut butter products:

Infections with Listeria may not cause symptoms for up to 70 days. The most serious complications include invasive infections in the bloodstream and nervous system, such as meningitis.

Food poisoning with Listeria is especially dangerous for young children, elderly adults, people with weak immune systems, and pregnant women, according to the FDA:

“Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”
