SCARPA Recalls Maestrale Ski Boots Due to Injury Hazard

SCARPA North America Inc., of Boulder, Colorado, recalled about 5,600 Maestrale ski boots in the U.S. and Canada after receiving 605 reports of the boot shells cracking.

No injuries were reported, but a cracked ski boot poses a serious fall hazard and a risk of injury to consumers.

The recall involves the Fall 2017 Maestrale RS and Maestrale Men’s Ski Boots, which were sold from August 2017 through August 2019.

The Maestrale style numbers are #12047/501.1 and can be identified by their orange color, the “SCARPA” name on the lower-outside shell, and “Maestrale” model name on the upper/outside cuff.

The Maestrale RS style numbers are #12046/501.1 and can be identified by their white, black and lime color, the “SCARPA” name on lower-outside shell, and the “Maestrale RS” model name on upper/outside cuff.

They were manufactured in Italy and sold by SCARPA dealers, outdoor stores nationwide, and online at www.scarpa.com. The Maestrale model cost $700 and the Maestrale RS model cost $800.

Consumers should immediately stop using the ski boots and contact SCARPA for instructions on how to return the boot to get a free repair.
