Velvet Ice Cream Recalls All Products for Listeria Risk

The Velvet Ice Cream Company recalled all ice cream and sherbet products sold after March 24 due to a risk of Listeria bacteria.

No illnesses have been linked to the recalled products yet, but in the past few years, Listeria has been detected multiple times at Velvet Ice Cream’s manufacturing facility in Utica, New York.

Back in May 2019, the FDA warned that 9 swabs tested positive for Listeria from a Velvet Ice Cream facility in Utica, and furthermore, the company’s sanitation plans were not adequate. The same type of Listeria was also found during a 2018 inspection.

The products were distributed and sold in stores on or after March 24 with the following product codes the bottom or side of the container:
