Food 4 Less and King Soopers stores nationwide sold the chicken salad, according to a recall notice posted Friday on Kroger’s website. Affected products include:

“Due to a potential health hazard, customers who purchased any of the item(s) below should not eat the product,” the recall notice states. “The product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes and, if eaten, could result in severe illness to those individuals who are pregnant or have a weakened immune system.”

Listeria infection, or listeriosis, is a foodborne illness that typically affects children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems. However, in rare cases otherwise healthy adults can become infected as well.

Kroger is asking customers who purchased any recalled chicken salad to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

To date, no listeria infections or any other illnesses have been associated with the recall, Kroger said.
