Great to Go Chicken Bowls Recalled for Listeria Risk

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported a recall for approximately 701 pounds of Great to Go chicken & vegetable bowls because the broccoli ingredient may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

The heat-treated, not fully cooked, not shelf stable chicken products were packaged from October 10, 2017 through October 16, 2017.

The following products are subject to recall:

• Great to Go BY MARKET DISTRICT CHICKEN & VEGETABLE POTSTICKERS — 7-oz. plastic bowl containing with a best-by date 10/17/2017 through 10/23/2017, and UPC 815712014975.
• Great to Go BY MARKET DISTRICT SESAME CHICKEN RAMEN NOODLES — 12-oz. plastic bowl with a best-by date 10/17/2017 through 10/23/2017, and UPC 815712014937.
• Great to Go BY MARKET DISTRICT CHICKEN & VEGETABLE FRIED RICE — 12-oz. plastic bowl with a best-by date 10/17/2017 through 10/23/2017, and UPC 81571201494
• Great to Go BY MARKET DISTRICT SPICY THAI-STYLE CHICKEN WITH UDON NOODLES — 12-oz. plastic bowl with a best-by date 10/17/2017 through 10/23/2017, and UPC 815712014951

The products were shipped to grocery store in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. They can be identified with Establishment number “EST. P-40211.”

The problem was discovered on October 19, 2017 when Fresh Foods Manufacturing Co. received notification from a supplier that the broccoli used by the company was recalled due to Listeria concerns.

No reports of food poisoning have been linked to the recalled products, but a person who eats food that is contaminated with Listeria can develop a serious food poisoning illness known as listeriosis.

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.

In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn.

Persons in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care and tell the health care provider about eating the contaminated food.”
