Haig’s Delicacies Recalls Taboule Salad for E. Coli Risk

Haig’s Delicacies, of Hayward, Calif., recalled 342 cases of Taboule Salad due to a possible risk of food poisoning with E. coli O157:H7.

There have been no reported illnesses. E. coli was detected after routine testing by the company, according to the FDA.

The recalled Taboule Salad was sold in California through grocery stores. It was packaged in the following sizes:

The recalled lot is 17298 and it has an expiration date of 11/16/17.

E. coli O157:H7 is a Shiga-toxin producing bacteria. Infections can cause a serious diarrheal illness, often with bloody stools.

Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS).”

HUS is most likely to occur in young children and the elderly. The condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.
