Supermarket chain Meijer recalled nearly 20 different store brand produce items from its 235 locations in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
Another 20 products were pulled by Randalls, Tom Thumb and Albertson’s grocery stores in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. All products were sold under the Ready. Chef. Go! brand of seafood meals in cooking bags that include potentially contaminated vegetables from Salinas, CA.-based Mann Packing.
Triple B Corp. recalled 7 CP Fresh products that went to schools, hotels, hospitals and retail delis, according to an FDA recall notice issued Saturday. The food distribution company also recalled 8 Alaska Carrot brand products sold in Alaska’s retail stores.
Whole Foods recalled Veggie Power Blend, Sesame Chicken Power Salad, and Mexican Chicken Power Salad products sold by the pound at 10 locations in California between Sept. 28 and October 20.
Listeria infection, or listeriosis, is a foodborne illness that typically affects children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with compromised immune systems. However, in rare cases otherwise healthy adults can become infected as well.
Signs and symptoms of listeriosis include:
- Fever
- Muscle aches
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
If the infection spreads to the nervous system, symptoms may include:
- Headache
- Stiff neck
- Confusion or changes in alertness
- Loss of balance
- Convulsions
If you purchased any vegetable products that are included in this recall, you should discard them immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
To date, no listeria infections or other illnesses have been associated with the recall.
