Pre-Sliced Nova Salmon Recalled for Listeria Risk

FDA tests identified Listeria monocytogenes in a sample of the product. The company has suspended production of the product while they investigate the source of the contamination.

No illnesses have been reported, but Listeria can cause a life-threatening illness, especially in young children, elderly adults, and others with weakened immune systems.

The symptoms of Listeria infection may include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

The recalled “Pre-Sliced Nova Salmon” were distributed through retail grocery stores in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The salmon was packaged in 1-lb. clear plastic and marked with Lot #42173 on the back of the package. It is also marked with an expiration date of December 22, 2017 (12/22/17) and UPC #811907018018.

Consumers who bought 1-lb. packages of Pre-Sliced Nova Salmon should return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund. For more information, contact Springfield Smoked Fish at 1-413-737-8693. Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm.
