Ready-to-Eat Salami Products Recalled Over Salmonella Fears

The recall affects Black Kassel Piller’s Dry Aged D’Amour Salami and Dry Aged Speck Smoked Prosciutto that have a best by date of May 12, 2018, according to a recall notice issued Saturday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recalled products were manufactured between Sept. 22 and Oct. 12, 2017, FSIS said.

The agency has designated this as a Class I recall, which is a “situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

Salmonella poisoning can cause serious illness in anyone; however, infants and children are at an increased risk of severe infection because their immune systems haven’t fully developed.

If you purchased any of the above recalled products, you should discard them immediately or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.

To date, there has been no reports of salmonella infection or any other illnesses associated with the recall.
