Trader Joe’s Granola Recalled for Listeria Contamination

The company was notified notified by one of their suppliers that an ingredient used in the granola may be contaminated, according to a recall notice issued Wednesday by Trader Joe’s.

Affected products include:

If you purchased any of these products you should not eat them, and either throw them away or take them back to Trader Joe’s for a refund.

To date, no listeria infections have been associated with this recall. However, it can take up to 70 days for symptoms of the illness to appear, according to an FDA recall announcement.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause severe infections in children, the elderly, and others with compromised immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. However, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
