Gusto, Olli Salami Recalled for Listeria Risk

Olli Salumeria Americana, of Oceanside, California, is recalling 3,946 pounds of ready-to-eat salami that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The salami was packaged on January 19, 2018. The following products are subject to recall:

The products are marked with establishment number “M-45334” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide in the United States and exported to Canada.

The problem was discovered when the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) performed routine Listeria monocytogenes sampling. There have been no confirmed reports of food poisoning.

The symptoms of infection with Listeria can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, and sometimes diarrhea or gastrointestinal symptoms.

In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn.
