The recall was announced by Cost Plus Management Services Inc., of Alameda, California.

The company has received 2 reports of incidents, including 1 candle catching on fire. No injuries or property damage were reported.

According to the recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on February 21, 2018:

The candles’ high flame can ignite the surface of the wax, posing a fire hazard.

Cost Plus World Market recalled 10″ unscented bleeding drip taper candles that were sold in a 2-pack. The unscented wax candles are black and bleed red wax as they melt. The SKU/UPC 544668/000000544668 can be found on the product packaging.

They were sold at Cost Plus World Market and World Market stores nationwide and online at www.worldmarket.com between August 2017 and October 2017 for about $7.

Consumers should stop using the candles and return them to any Cost Plus World Market or World Market store for a full refund.
