Apple has recalled approximately 814,000 three-prong AC wall plug adapters that were sold in World Travel Adapter Kits before February 2015.

The recall was issued because the 3-prong adapters can break and expose the metal portion of the adapter, posing an electric shock risk if the exposed metal parts are touched.

Apple has received 6 reports outside the U.S. of wall plug adapters breaking and consumers receiving shocks, including 2 reports of consumers who were medically evaluated and released.

The kit contained 7 different AC plugs that fit different types of outlets around the world.

The AC plugs in in the World Travel Adapter Kit support outlets in North America, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, and Brazil.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled wall plug adapters and contact Apple for free replacement adapters.

For more information, consumers can contact Apple at 800-275-2273 anytime, or online at www.apple.com, click on Support and then click on Apple Three-Prong AC Wall Plug Adapter Recall Program.
