Fieldbrook Foods Corp. recalled all orange-cream bars and chocolate-coated vanilla ice cream bars that were manufactured in 2017 in Dunkirk, New York, due to a risk of Listeria contamination.

The recall was announced after several samples tested positive for Listeria. The evidence of contamination dates back to October 2017, but all ice cream produced since January 2017 was recalled.

No illnesses have been reported, but infections with Listeria can be very serious or deadly.

The recall involves the following grocery stores, store-brands, and other brand-names of ice cream bars:

  • Amigo – Great Value® (Puerto Rico Only)
  • Bi Lo – Southern Home®
  • BJ’s – Wellsley Farms®
  • Demoulas – Market Basket®

  • Econo – Econo® (Puerto Rico Only)
  • Food 4 Less – Kroger®
  • Fred Meyer – Kroger®
  • Frys – Kroger®
  • Giant – Ahold®
  • Giant Eagle – Giant Eagle®
  • Harveys – Southern Home®
  • Jewel – Lucerne®
  • King Soopers – Kroger®
  • Kroger – Kroger®

The recall also involves 28,751 cases of Raspberry Cream Bars included with Orange Cream Bars in ALDI seasonal split-case products that were shipped between March and August 2017.

Most of the ice cream bars have “Best-By” dates from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018, but the Hood® and Kemps® products may have “Best By” dates from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.

The symptoms of Listeria infection may include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirth.

Anyone who bought the recalled ice cream bars should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information, consumers can call 1-(800) 333-0805 (x2270).
