The problem with the InSinkErator SinkTop™ Switch Accessory is that water can get into the power module, posing a fire hazard. The company has received 40 reports of water causing overheating damage to the power module and the power outlet under the sink.

No injuries have been reported, but the problem poses fire and burn hazards.

SinkTop Switches are air-activated switches that mount to the sink or countertop. They are sold as an alternative to the traditional wall switch for a garbage disposal.

The recall involves Model #76703, #STS-SOSN, #78251 and #74300, and can be found on the back of the power module.

They were sold from 2005 throgugh October 2017 at home improvement stores, online, and through plumbing contractors and outlets for $50 to $90.

Consumers should stop using the recalled switches and contact InSinkErator for a free SinkTop switch replacement.
