The incident occurred on October 4 at an oil well site operated by Devon Energy near the T-7 Road in Campbell County, Wyoming.

Four workers were at the site of the time of the accident. The most seriously injured victim was a 33-year-old man in the building at the time of the explosion, according to Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds:

“The 33-year-old male was reported to have lacerations to his leg with bone showing and lacerations to an arm with bone showing.”

The other two victims were a 28-year-old man who suffered a cut to his forehead, and a 40-year-old man, who was treated for pain in his rib cage and a bleeding hand injury. The fourth worker was unharmed.

In the immediate aftermath of the explosion, the men drove back toward Gillette in two vehicles. EMS met the lead vehicle and treated the 28-year-old man. Sheriff’s deputies met the second vehicle.

All four men involved in the explosion were transported to Campbell County Health. The men who were injured are now in good condition.

The fire department and supervisors for Devon Energy responded to the scene to investigate what caused the explosion.
