Contigo issued the recall because the clear silicone spout on the water bottle can detach, posing a choking hazard to children.

Contigo has received 149 reports of the spout detaching, including 18 reports of spouts that were found in children’s mouths.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled water bottles, take them away from children, and contact Contigo for a free replacement lid.

The recall involves about 5.7 million water bottles that were sold at Costco, Walmart, Target, other stores nationwide, and online between April 2018 and June 2019 for $9 to $24.

On the recalled water bottles, the base and cover of the clear silicon spout will always be BLACK. Only black-colored spout base and spout cover models are being recalled.

The products can also be identified by “Contigo” printed on the rim and along the front near the bottom of the bottle.

The water bottles come in 3 sizes (13-ounce, 14-ounce and 20-ounce) and four colors (solid color, graphics, stainless steel and stainless steel solid colors). They were sold individually, in 2-packs or 3-packs.

For more information, consumers can contact Contigo toll-free at 888-262-0622 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at www.gocontigo.com/recall or www.gocontigo.com and click on “Recalls” at the bottom of the page.
