Presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has clinched the Democratic party nomination, winning four of six primaries against Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.).

The presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump, swept five states as the only candidate.

Clinton scored big wins in California, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota — surpassing the 2,383 delegates needed to win the nomination — while Sanders took Montana and North Dakota.

Clinton declared a historic victory as the first woman to lead a major party race for the White House, while Sanders vowed to “continue the fight” and push for a contested convention in July.

Clinton proclaimed to her supporters in Brooklyn, “Tonight’s victory is not about one person. It belongs to generations of women and men who struggled and sacrificed and made this moment possible.”

Trump told supporters at the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, New York, “Together we accomplished what nobody thought was absolutely possible,” Breitbart reports. “We’re only getting started and it’s going to be beautiful — remember that.”
