The Phoenix-based rental company said on Sunday that the propane tanks were being recalled by their importer, Flame King.

Affected products have been sold at propane-certified U-Haul locations throughout California since June 2016.

The refillable cylinders were designed to provide an eco-friendly alternative for campers and tailgaters whose only previous option was to purchase disposable propane tanks from large retailers and sporting goods stores.

Refillable one-pound propane cylinders were sold for $11.95 and come in two shapes: a tall, skinny tank and a shorter, stout tank.

The devices are used to fuel portable grills, small stoves, portable heaters, lanterns and more.

U-Haul is urging customers to “cease using your refillable one-pound cylinder immediately and return it to the closest propane-certified U-Haul location.”
