Dave’s Pet Food of Agawam, Massachusetts announced a recall for cans of “Dave’s Dog Food 95% Premium Beef” because it could contain high levels of beef thyroid hormone.

Dave's Dog Food Recalled for High Beef Thyroid HormoneAt least 4 dogs who ate the food were found to have elevated levels of thyroid hormones, which led the FDA to test the product.

The recalled product consists of a single batch (548 cases) of 13 oz., 95% premium beef dog food with a UPC # of 85038-11167 and a date code of 08/2020.

Dogs who eat food with high levels of beef thyroid hormone may develop symptoms like increased thirst and urination, weight loss, increased heart rate and restlessness.

With prolonged consumption, these symptoms may get worse and include vomiting, diarrhea, and rapid or labored breathing.

Consumers who bought the recalled dog food should stop feeding it to their dogs. For a refund or a a coupon for replacement product, call 1-888-763-2738 Monday through Friday, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST.
