Dorel Juvenile Group USA has recalled the “Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Rock Bassinet” and the “Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinet” due to a risk of suffocation and death.
The company is offering a refund, and is asking consumers to immediately stop using the inclined sleepers and contact Dorel for a refund in the form of a $60 voucher.
The recalled infant sleepers were sold at retailers such as Target, Kmart, Ross, Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, and other children’s stores between November 2014 and February 2017.
No injuries were linked to the recalled products. The recall was issued because babies have died in infant sleepers with a similar design.
The problem is that infants can suffocate if they roll from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances. Very young infants who can’t hold up their head may also be at risk of suffocating due to positional asphyxia.
In April, Fisher-Price recalled 4.7 million Rock ‘n Play Sleepers after more than 30 baby deaths were reported over the last decade.
After 5 infant deaths, Kids II recalled all Rocking Sleepers that were sold under several brands, including Disney Baby, Bright Starts, DreamComfort and Ingenuity.
