The recall involves Blue Wilderness Mountain Recipe Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs. The product was sold in 12.5-oz cans with a “Best By” date of June 7, 2019 on the bottom of the can and UPC 840243101153.

Canned Dog Food RecallDogs who consume high levels of beef thyroid hormones may show the following symptoms:

  • Increased thirst and urination
  • Weight loss
  • Increased heart rate
  • Restlessness

These symptoms will become more severe with prolonged consumption of thyroid hormones, and may also include vomiting, diarrhea, and rapid or difficulty breathing.

Blue Buffalo was alerted to the problem when a customer told the FDA that their dog experienced symptoms and fully recovered. The company immediately opened an investigation and discovered that the food might contain elevated levels of thyroid hormones.

Label on Blue Wilderness Dog Food RecallIf your dog ate the product and experienced any of the symptoms listed above, discontinue feeding and contact your veterinarian immediately. Consumers who bought the product should throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
