PetSmart initiated the recall after the manufacturer notified it of customer complaints about metal contamination in the dog food.
According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), this recall affects:
- Grreat Choice Adult Dog Food with Chicken & Rice Classic Ground
- 13.2 oz. cans
- UPC number 7-3725726116-7
- Best By date 8/5/19
These products were sold at PetSmart retail stores, on PetSmart.com, Pet360.com and PetFoodDirect.com between Oct. 10, 2016 and Feb. 7, 2017. No other Grreat Choice products are affected by this recall.
If you purchased any of the above dog food, you should stop using it and return it to PetSmart for a full refund.
To date, there have been no reported cases of illnesses or injury related to this recall.
