Euphoria Fancy Food Inc., of Brooklyn, New York, has issued a voluntary recall for Capitan K slightly-salted salmon pieces after a random sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall involves 7.05-ounce vacuum-sealed packages of “CAPITAN K®” slightly salted salmon pieces. The salmon was distributed nationwide and sold through mail-order.

The recalled products are marked with Container Code 070519, a Best-By date of 01/30/20, and a product UPC Code 607059000362.

No illnesses have been reported to date, but infections with Listeria can be very serious or deadly. Pregnant women may suffer a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infection of the newborn baby.

Healthy adults may develop symptoms such as a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, or diarrhea.

The problem was discovered after a random sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, according to the New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspector.

Consumers who bought the recalled salmon products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
