The lawsuit was filed by Christina S., a woman from Arizona who was injured by the Günther Tulip® Inferior Vena Cava Filter (“IVC Filter”) manufactured by Cook Medical LLC and William Cook Europe ApS.
The IVC Filter was implanted on June 10, 2010 at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City, Arizona by Dr. Daniel R. Wright for the purpose of preventing a Venous Thromboembolism (VTE).
Cook Medical is accused of negligence for selling a defective medical device and failing to warn about safety risks.
The lawsuit was filed on May 20, 2019 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana (Indianapolis Division) — Case No. 1:19-cv-01989-TWP-DLP.
It will be centralized with over 5,285 other IVC filter lawsuits that have already been filed in Multi-District Litigation (MDL No. 2570) — In Re: Cook Medical, Inc., IVC Filters Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation.
