The recall was issued by Taco Bell’s supplier of seasoned beef, Kenosha Beef International. The company said it received three customer complaints. No confirmed illnesses or injuries were reported.

The problem was discovered when a customer said they found a metal shaving in their menu item, according to a statement issued by Taco Bell on October 15.

Taco Bell confirmed that all of the product was removed and discarded as of Monday, October 14. It was distributed to restaurants in 21 states across the eastern Midwest, northern Southeast and Northeast.

Julie Masino, President of North America, Taco Bell Corp. said that nothing is more important than customer safety and trust:

As soon as we received the first consumer complaint, we immediately acted to remove the product from the affected restaurants and proactively worked with the supplier to inform the USDA of our steps to protect our guests.”

For more information, consumers with questions should call 1-800-TACOBELL (1-800-822-6235). Customer service representatives will be available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
