George’s Prepared Foods, of Caryville, Tennessee, recalled approximately 6,444 pounds of Walmart’s Great Value® pork sausage patties and turkey sausage patties that may be contaminated with Salmonella.
No illnesses were reported. The recall was issued after a third-party cold storage facility inadvertently shipped the products nationwide.
The following items are included in the recall:
- Great Value® Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties — 4.92-oz. packages with use-by date of 10/16/19 and Lot Code 1091971894.
- Great Value® Fully Cooked Original Breakfast Turkey Patties — 24.92-oz. packages with use-by date of 10/24/19 and Lot Code 1171971897.
- Great Value® Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties (Family Size) — 35.6-oz. packages with use-by date of 11/03/19 and Lot Code 1271972894 or use-by date 11/05/19 and Lot Code 1291972894
Consumers can also identify the recalled sausage patties with the establishment number “EST. M2206T or P-2260T” on the package.
Salmonella is one of the most common sources of food poisoning. Infections cause stomach cramps, diarrhea, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after infection. The illness usually lasts around a week, with most people recovering without needing medical treatment.
