Customer complaints alerted Publix to the problem, according to an FDA Safety Alert issued Monday.

The recall affects 16-ounce containers with a Use By date of May 16 A1 or May 16 C1 and a UPC code of 000-41415-15961.

Customers in possession of any recalled products should discard them or return them to Publix for a full refund.

“We were made aware of the potentially impacted product through customer complaints,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. “Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund.”

Those with additional questions should contact Publix online or by phone at 800-242-1227.

Since the last week of March, there have been at least 8 FDA or USDA-announced recalls of food for containing non-food elements such as golf balls, plastic and a bat.
