The lawsuit was filed by Marie Lee J., a woman from Idaho who was injured by the Celect® Vena Cava Filter (“IVC Filter”) manufactured by Cook Medical LLC and William Cook Europe ApS.
The IVC Filter was surgically implanted in her vein to catch blood clots on January 20, 2010 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho by Dr. David Shelley.
Cook Medical is accused of negligence for selling a defective medical device and failing to warn about safety risks.
The lawsuit was filed on October 31, 2018 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana (Indianapolis Division) — Case No. 1:18-cv-03358-JRS-MPB.
It will be centralized with over 4,700other IVC filter lawsuits now pending in Multi-District Litigation (MDL No. 2570) — In Re: Cook Medical, Inc., IVC Filters Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation.
