The lawsuit was filed by Kianna R., a woman from Michigan who was implanted with the Option™ Vena Cava Filter (“IVC Filter”) manufactured by Argon Medical Devices Inc. and Rex Medical, L.P.

The IVC Filter was implanted in her vein to catch blood clots and prevent a pulmonary embolism on March 25, 2011 at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan by Dr. Roman Hysczak.

The IVC Filter was not removed. She is seeking compensation for injuries related to her IVC Filter becoming embedded, tilted, and fracturing. Three struts of the filter fractured without migration.

Rex Medical and Argon Medical Devices are accused of negligence for selling a defective medical device and failing to warn about risks.

The lawsuit was filed on September 11, 2018 in the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania — Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas (Trial Division / Civil Section) — Case ID: 180900848.

There are now over 8,000 other IVC filter lawsuits pending against Rex Medical, Cook Medical, B. Braun, C.R. Bard, and other manufacturers in state and federal courtrooms nationwide.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Ben C. Martin of The Law Offices of Ben C. Martin in Dallas, Texas.
