The recall affects Re-fuel by Digipower Grab and Go Family Pack portable power bank charging stations made by Mizco International, CPSC said in a recall notice issued on Thursday.

The problem has been reported to occur when the power bank is charging, during which it can overheat and start a fire.

Re-Fuel Power Bank Charging Stations are self-contained energy sources used to charge cell phones and other devices when an electrical outlet is not available. The units consist of 3, 2600 mAh re-chargeable lithium-ion battery chargers situated atop a charging docking station.

Each power bank is oval in shape and measures about 3.75 inches long by 1.25 inches high by 0.75 inches wide. “re-fuel by DIGIPOWER” is printed on each power bank. Item number RF-TRIP is printed on the bottom of the charging station.

If you purchased a charging station that is affected by the recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact Mizco International for a refund.

To date, the firm has received at least 5 reports of power bank charging stations overheating and melting, CPSC said.
